Alright. I have been waiting to post these and I am so excited to share them with you. Alex and I both worked very hard to produce these few images and we are very happy with the results. I have to say though, Chris - building that ramp and having the guts to fly down the trail off the ramp for the first time in front of the cameras - awesome! Not to mention half of the wedding party was there watching. Well done you two. It was a blast to watch and a blast to photograph.

Thank you Chris and Heather so much for having us there on your wedding day and then some. What an experience!!!

Chris and Heather Kent - Wedding Day August 6,2011

Chris and Heather - our first BC wedding since moving to the Okanagan, and what a great way to start. I think I mentioned this before, but Alex and I have never felt more like family at a wedding than at this one. Everyone was so welcoming and kind - Alex and I would love to thank you all for that (and for all the yummy food!!). Now lets talk about the bride and groom. Normally we write about the day, what we loved about it, and how fabulous the special couples we photograph are...but this time we would like to make things a little more personal.

Dear Chris and Heather,
You two make one tough couple. What Alex and I have learned about you in the time we have spent with you is that you are very motivated people with great passion for life and love...and maybe some scotch. We want to congratulate you both on your new life together and wish for your lives to be an exciting journey (about as exciting as a groom flying off a ramp...on his bike...into the lake...wearing a kilt!)
We are so happy to have gotten to know you and everyone at the wedding - what a wonderful bunch.

- I have to add in a funny story just now. I was asking Alex what the date of the wedding was so I could add it in the blog post. As he scrambled to get to a calendar, I said "WAIT! Check your wine glass". Sure enough, he was using the wine glass that Chris and Heather gave each of us as a party favor from their wedding with the wedding date on it. Chris and Heather - thank you for the wine glasses.

We are about to post Chris and Heathers wedding photos, but before we do that I would like to share some images of flowers that Alex spent a long time perfecting while I was photographing the bride to be. These flowers were planted all around the property of Chris' mother and fathers place in Green Lake BC. Chris made sure that everyone noticed the hard work that his mother had put into getting the garden looking perfect. It was beautiful. Enjoy - we did.

It's past midnight and I am super tired, but I couldn't not share these few photos with you that Alex and I took at Chris and Heathers wedding this past weekend up north in Green Lake, BC. What a beautiful place, with beautiful people. I don't think I have ever hugged as many family members of a bride and groom as I did at this wedding - and Alex can say the same. We were welcomed with open arms and such warmth. But more of the sentimental stuff to come later - for now - some romantic photos!

Marc and Kate - Photo Booth

Alex and I were so thrilled to hear that Kate and Marc were tying the knot and instantly thought, would we be their wedding photographers? You see, Kate and I have been great friends for about 12 years now and we have most certainly had the talk about how hard it is to enjoy a friends wedding when you're the photographer, so Alex and I went as guests. What a Beautiful wedding, and so much fun - I don't think we could have enjoyed it more!

We decided that our gift to Marc and Kate would be to set up a photo booth at their reception and have some fun with their guests during the night. And of course, I just had to post some of our favorites! Enjoy!

Since being in Kelowna, Alex and I have been blessed with warm(er) weather, fresh(er) fruit and veggies, and more lakes and rivers to take our fishing rods out on. We also have been very fortunate to have met some amazing people - the Bruckers.

Back in August of 2010, Alex and I spent a very special wedding day with Keith and Kellie where we were graced with the hilariously funny personality of Gary Brucker (Kellies uncle). Little did we know…the Brucker family was from Kelowna. Well, one thing lead to another and we all got together for a family photo shoot on a perfectly sunny day.

I have to send a huge thanks out to Kellie for helping this shoot come together, and another huge thanks to the Brucker family - you have been so kind, accommodating, and just overall awesome! You made the shoot so easy and fun - more photos on the way soon.

Elana - Head Shots

You might think this person looks like me. Or maybe you don't. Fact is - this is my sister. Beautiful, stunning, gorgeous and talented older sister.

Elana recently changed her major to Drama at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. She's been cast in a few plays already and encouraged to join an acting program. I'm so happy she has found something in this life that she is as passionate and in love with as I am with photography. We're becoming quite the family of artists.

We shot this in our grandparents spare bedroom on Christmas Day. We had about two inches on either side of us to move between the bed and the wall. I think we managed just fine.

Kurtis and Amanda - Couples Portraits

The Holidays are always a busy time of year, but what better way to spend it than with friends and family. I've been very busy taking photos of, friends, family, and little pretty things that catch my eye along the way. Today was no exception.

I had lots of fun on this photo shoot with my best friend Amanda and her boyfriend Kurtis. We took the photos just down the road from where they live - very convenient, and it allowed for numerous warm up breaks. Shoots are always a little shaky at first. I'm getting comfortable with the light, the weather, and the people I'm photographing, and they are getting used to me having a big lens in their face and my subtle requests - "maybe try putting your hand here, or lifting your chin juuuust a bit". But Kurtis and Amanda were super easy to work with (even though Kurtis is not a huge fan of having his photo taken). He's one of those people that likes to be on the other side of the lens, like me!

Thank you both for sticking it out in the cold - I think we all froze our little toes off, but I am so happy with the images and think it was all worth it. Enjoy, and stay warm out there folks!

Hello followers and friends of IvenKaye.

As many of you know (and some of you may not), Alexander Del Hierro, and I, Amy Bizovie, have moved away from Edmonton in pursuit of our own independent journeys.

Alex has left to New Zeland for...well...no one is quite sure how long he will be gone for. He will most likely return from his adventures after a period of six months - that way he gets all his tax money back! Good thinkin' Alex!

You can follow Alex and his adventures on his new blog Del Hierro Adventures Check it out! He'll be updating everyone on photo shoots, fish, and most likely food too. Wish him well!

I have gone a different, closer direction. West! I have now arrived in Kelowna BC and will continue to work from here until Alex returns to join forces with me once again.

We are both still doing photo shoots and I would LOVE to see Alex post a wedding from New Zeland on the IvenKaye blog! If anyone can help us out with that, hook a brotha' up.

Also - if you were interested in our services and reside in Edmonton or surrounding area, please do not cancel us out as an option. Alex and I both have family in Edmonton and would love to have an excuse (other than beautiful people to take photos of), to visit good ol' Alberta. As of now, anything before June in Edmonton or Kelowna/Okanogan will be handled by me. Anything after June Alex and I will shoot together. May wedding? Don't worry. I know plenty of talented photographers to help me out on your wedding day.

I can't wait to get some photos up from the new places Alex and I are exploring. We can only gain more experience and grow as people and photographers from our new paths, which means, more pretty things for you to look at.

Keith and Kellie's Wedding Day

Part two of the magnificent Keith and Kellie! There are some photos in this post that were also in the slideshow but I thought, perhaps, some people would like to see them for longer than one second at a time.

Alex and I spent the whole day with this couple, from super bright and early, to late at night (Alex and I ended up partying a bit more at this wedding than we ever have). There were lots of photos to share so I hope you enjoy them all. Alex even makes an appearence in one of the photos with his awesome dance moves.

And now for a little note to Keith and Kellie - about Keith and Kellie (who call themselves K2 - so cute).

Alex and I just got back from handing off our last wedding photos to the lovely couple Keith and Kellie. I will post more photos in the next few days, but during our visit Kellie expressed that someone was waiting to see the photos on the blog tonight…so…here is a preview of what is to come.

With every client Alex and I have the pleasure of getting to know, we usually incorperate some kind of bonus/gift to their package. I found this Hallmark Slideshow maker and thought it might be a nice touch to Keith and Kellies wedding day photos. I had great difficulty making it work the way it was supposed to and under no circumstances was it to go un-viewed! So, here it is. It's not fancy, but it is two beautiful people in love, and that alone makes my heart melt. Here's to K2!

Dan and Caroline - Wedding Day

As mentioned before, Dan and Caroline had a classy, super intimate wedding. It was nice for Alex and I to experience such a close group of friends that was gathered together to celebrate such a beautiful couple. Jeff and Kellys Wedding Day

Dan and Caroline - Wedding Day Preview

Caroline is a great friend of my moms, so I have to give my mom credit for hooking me and Alex up with this stunning couple. Thanks Mom!

We have never been to such a classy, intimate wedding. The ceremony started at 7pm, followed by a few quick photos outside on the balcony of the Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton AB. For the rest of the night, everyone just mingled, munched, and laughed - a lot. Oh, and there was one instance of "sneaking off" to take some photos inside the hotel.

Jeff and Kelly's Wedding Day Preview

Here's one image from Jeff and Kelly's gorgeous wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Sun was shining, everyone was super chill and happy, but most importantly, mosquitoes weren't biting yet! I love this photo. These two were totally just having a moment and when I showed them the image after on the back of my camera, Kelly said "oh I love it, you can see my ring!" And what a beautiful ring it is.

I also want to share with you something that Alex and I had never done before, so Jeff and Kelly agreed to be our "trial couple". We made them table numbers for their reception to jazz the room up a bit and give their guests something to look at until the bride and groom arrived. From what we heard, and saw, everyone loved them, (people were actually taking them home as they left) Party favors?

Sean and Laurie's Wedding

It's been over a year, and I have finally put together Sean and Laurie's blog post. I have good reason though. I didn't create this blog until long after their wedding was shot...that's good reason...right?

Sean and Laurie's wedding was very special to Alexander and I as it was the very first wedding we ever shot together. It was such an experience. We really figured out what we each do best, and what we should just let the other person do without getting involved too much (eg. Alex always sets up the lights, and I always take the family photos - always!) After the wedding, we spent the whole night talking about how awesome it was to work together and what a great job we think we did. We both had so much energy, we were totally on a high (and overtired) from spending the whole day photographing such an amazing couple.

Sean and Laurie, thank you so much for being our first wedding clients, and I must say, I don't think any dinner at any other wedding has ever compared to yours. Delicious!

This is one of my favorite photos ever taken at a wedding ( of ours ). Well done Alex!

We decided last minute to take the photos outside even though it was quite chilly out. Thank goodness the guys were gentleman and lent the girls their jackets to warm up.

Flowers for Amanda

About three weeks ago, Alex and I took a trip out to Vancouver to see what the photography market was like out there and to have a mini vacation as well.

We took so many photos and were just blown away by the trees and flowers we saw during our trip.

So here I am on a rainy saturday filtering through the images. Well, they made me think of my best friend Amanda. She is always talking about how much beauty the world holds even when things seem to be at their worst. She really does see beauty in everything.

So Amanda, this is for you. <3

It might not be in front of our eyes all the time...but this world really is wonderful.

Keith and Kellie - aka K2, Engagement

Alex and I had the lovely pleasure of meeting this sweet couple just before February long weekend.

We had been planning a road trip to Radium for the long weekend and were very pleased to find out that Keith and Kellie were heading to Lake Louise for their long weekend getaway. We had planned to do their engagement shoot when they got back into Edmonton, and then two seconds before they walked out the door, Alex stopped them and proposed the idea of us meeting them in Lake Louise and having the shoot there.

Below is the outcome! What a wonderful place to take photos. I had never been in that hotel before so it was pretty fun for me to finally be in the Chateau Lake Louise I have heard so much about. For those that don't know, I used to work at a hotel and was told that Lake Louise was the nicest of all the Fairmont hotels. I have no doubts about that now.

The photo shoot went fast, was super busy with people all over the place and two very excited photographers sliding around on the skating rink with shoes on, trying not to fall over. Alex even got to know one of the tourists there quite well - you should ask him about this...it's funny.

We had a fabulous time shooting and cannot wait for K2's wedding. It's definitely going to push our creativity as photographers.

Keith and Kelly even played us a little diddy on the piano - so cute.

The next two shots were taken at the same time. I was on the bridge shooting down, and Alex was taking close ups while holding our light. Both great shots and totally different.

This ice castle was right on Lake Louise behind the hotel and was flooded with tourists. Fortunately people saw we were trying to accomplish something here, and politely moved out of the way. In the chance that you are one of those people - Thank you kindly.

Baby Gabriela

One thing Alex and I haven't taken many photos of, is babies.

Usually at photo shoots, what happens is Alex takes care of all the digital, technical things - setting up lights, making sure the exposures are right, adjusting the angle of the lights, etc. I take the role of "the entertainer" - doing most of the interacting, posing, and coming up with ridiculous jokes to make people laugh. This is how every shoot has gone since Alex and I started working together.

But then...dun dun dun, this beautiful, adorable, too cute to be true baby comes along and all of a sudden Alexander can't put down the camera.

I am quite confident to say that with the exception of one image, the below images were all Alexander's doing. Perhaps he has found his new niche?

Thank you Ruth and Antonio for sharing your bundle of joy with us, and thank you baby Gabriela for waiting until the photos were done before you started to cry.

Travel time with Amory

So after Alex and I got back from Montreal, we traveled with our dear friend Amory who visited us two weeks after we returned from Montreal. It was Amory's first time to western Canada so we thought we would show him the mountains - naturally.

First we started by going to Drumheller to spend one night, and then on up to Banff for a night as well, and then our last night was spent in Jasper.

The following are some favorite photos of our three night trip that will not be forgotten.

Thanks Amory for all your delicious cooking and friendly smile! We miss you everyday and know you will be back here soon enough to go even further through the west.

This shot was taken by Alex at our campsite. Just across a little dirt road was this scene welcoming us to our home for the night.

We went exploring to the Star Mine suspension bridge. We had fun there and that's where the shot of Alex fishing on the previous trip post came from.

The next morning, before leaving for Banff, we went to the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

Where Alex got eaten by a dinosaur!!!!

We also saw the Hoodoo's with our pocket pal Lobo.

Cascade Ponds is the beautiful scene below. It was cold as you can tell, but we still stopped for some photo opps and got some very nice shots of Amory to take back to Toronto.

AMORY!

This next image is Medicine Lake which dries up in the fall and winter months, but during spring and summer is a full body of water and sometimes even floods. It really is fascinating and I encourage you to read up on it and visit there if you have the chance. It's really something else!

The road passing Medicine Lake took us up to Maligne Lake where we met some friends we made at our campsite the night before - Lacy and Brett who are also big fishers.

Sadly, we couldn't fish on this side of the river.

But we could fish on this side!

And yes! Alex finally caught a fish!

A Pure Portrait

Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing my dear friend Amanda on a whim. She picked me up from work so we could hang out and just relax, but then I thought, why not take some photos - photos that I have been waiting to take of someone, but just didn't know who, or when.

One light, one beautiful lady, and a whole lot of photos. No retouching was done to these images. Just color shifts and slight exposure changes.

From Montreal to Edmonton...and then some

So this post is long overdue, but better late than never. As you may or may not know, Alex and I traveled from Montreal to Edmonton in his Skyline GTR over the course of 5 days in August of 2009. I had to mention the car we drove in just for Alex - it's his baby!

Here are some images from the trip that we picked as our favorites and have great memories attached to them. Even after coming back to Edmonton after our fabulous journey, we continued on with our friends to Calgary, Drumheller, Banff, Jasper, Crows Nest Pass, and lots of places in between.

This is just a sneak peak at where we have visited and we hope to keep exploring Canada and sharing our images with all of you.

This first image is where it all started. Our friend Boris took this photo. Boris and Alex flew to Toronto to visit and stay with a good friend Amory before Boris took off for the Ukraine to do some dancing there, and then continued on to Russia - his homeland! Once Boris left Toronto, Alex headed to Montreal where he used to work as a photographer for Leda and St. Jacques, sadly abandoning his Skyline for an emergency trip back to Etown. Hence, the reason for the trip. RETRIEVE THE SKYLINE! I met Alex a week after his arrival to Montreal to enjoy the ride back.

One of the funniest and best memories we have from our time spent in Toronto was at this cute little doughnut shop. The shop may have been little, but as you see, the doughnuts...well...they're a story of their own. Three days later, we still had some doughnut left! Good when you're on a budget - bad if you're on a diet.

This was the first night of driving away from Toronto. Our first full day on the road. This shot was taken just before hitting up our five star camp site at one of the KOA campgrounds. Mini golf, pool, pool table! Too much for what we needed, but it was the closest one we could find before the sun went completely down. Fortunately for us, we were on the road long enough to catch this beautiful light hitting the powerlines.

After leaving KOA and a half day of driving, we reached this beautiful creek/river/lake called Serpent River. It's located between Sudbury and Thunder Bay. This was the perfect opportunity for Alex to get some fishing time in, and me to explore my photography in a way I haven't really done before. I was taught how to use graduated filters to make blue blue skies and slow shutter speeds to make water look all wooshy and stuff.

Fish weren't biting!

This next one is of a fall Alex and I came across passing Little Pic River. We saw a bunch of cars pulled over to the side of the road and were curious as to what could have been so spectacular that SO many people were stopping. Then we drove around the bend in the road and saw this. For two hours we went our seperate ways and just explored! I went on the trails and Alex went jumping over rocks near the falls. It was cold, and wet, but we didn't care!

This one is at Wolf River where we spent our second night camping. Of course, Alex tried to catch some more fish, but no luck yet again.

This is Lobo. He's like our little traveling gnome, but cuter. Alex was trying to fish, and it was boring for me, so Lobo and I did a photoshoot. It was not boring.

So this is a funny story. One of the days on the road, I thought and mentioned to Alex that our friend Rob, who also graduated from Photo Tech at NAIT, was riding his bicycle across Canada from Edmonton to Halifax this summer. I wondered where he would be along his trip and if he was possibly traveling the same highway as us. Two hours later, guess who we found. What are the chances! And we found him just as we suspected - shirtless with no helmet! Atta boy Rob!

After listening to his stories about his journey, and Alex and I going a little "click happy" we parted ways and drove off as he biked in the opposite direction.

One of my most favorite shots taken the whole trip is this one - taken on the trunk of Alex's car just outside of Kenora. Mayflies are Alex's favorite insect. They live for one year as a larva underwater until they hatch to live as adults for one day. Once the water and air temperatures are right, the mayflies take to dry land, transform into winged adults, mate, and die within a one day span. You may have seen one of their fragile shells sitting on a tree at some point. I never knew an insect could mean so much to someone, but if you ask Alex he'll tell you how symbolic they are, showing how beautiful, fragile and graceful life can be, no matter how long or short lived, like little sale boats floating above the water.

We drove straight through the third night all the way from Wolf River through Thunder Bay, Kenora, Winnipeg, and Regina finally arriving at Alex's cottage in Watrous Saskatchewan. The next few shots were taken once we hit the prairies and even though we were completely exhausted from not sleeping a night, we still stopped to explore.

This one was a total fluke and turned out to be one of the best. Alex said I had better take a shot of the prairies and how beautiful the canola fiels looked, so I just grabbed the camera, swung it over my shoulder and took a shot without even looking through the viewfinder. Hmm - maybe i'll start a new trend with wedding photography?

This last image wasn't actually a part of the trip from Montreal to Edmonton, but it was taken during the summer at Drumheller with our friend Amory. Can you see Alex? He was chest high in the water trying for dear life to catch a fish, and do you think he caught one...

Douglas Hoyer - Portrait

So I was feeling a little bored and uncreative with my standard everyday job, which don't get me wrong, I love, but sometimes it doesn't offer me the creativity and fun that I sometimes need to keep interested in photography.

This is why I called up, actually, that's a lie. I Facebooked my friend Doug Hoyer (a very talented young professional music artist, who's music can be listened to here ---> "CLICK ME!") to help me out and do some modeling for me one evening.

Here are a few of my favorite shots of Doug just chillin out and serenading Alex (who was editing on the computer) and I with his beautiful music.

Jeff and Kelly Engagement

The day Alex and I shot Jeff and Kelly's engagement, it was super cold out. We shot most of the images inside the Muttart Conservatory, and then headed out to brave the cold at Rexall place to get some photos with Wayne Gretzky - Jeff and Kelly are insane Oilers fans; Alex and I...not so much, but we had a blast taking photos and can't wait to photograph their wedding.

Dave and Cories Engagement

The nice, warm weather for outdoor photography is coming to a close, but Alex and I squeezed in a couple engagement shoots in the past few weeks before the leaves fell off the trees. Here's some of our favorites. And there were lots! It was very hard to narrow it down.

The photos were taken at "Beyond the Blue Sky" which is found 3km north of Darwell on Hwy 765. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys country style photos to head out there and check it out! Theresa, the lady that runs the place, is super sweet and even invited us in for some hot chocolate after the shoot to warm us up! Thanks Theresa, and thanks to Dave and Corie for toughing out the chilly weather! It was SO worth it!

Props to Alex for this shot! The horses started walking towards one another and hugging. While I was busy freaking out over the fact that we had horses that were in love, and people that were in love, (OMG), Alex managed to captured the moment perfectly! Yay to L.O.V.E.

I'm pretty sure we've all seen this rendition somewhere on the web from another photographer...but we just couldn't resist!

Hurray for Dave and Corie. We're going to have TUNS of fun at your "Hillbilly Ho-Down" wedding!

Tyler and Ambers Wedding

We had a fantastic time shooting Tyler and Ambers wedding in Leduc, and Mill Woods Golf Course. Thanks to the whole bridal party for being so fun and cooperative, and a huge thanks to our assistant for the day, Colleen Fiddler. She is entering her first year in Photographic Technology at NAIT and we are quite confident she will do great things when she's done.

Last but most certainly not least, thanks to Tyler and Amber. You're day went so smooth and it was a pleasure to have been your photographers. Even though it almost rained on us, everyone stayed calm and it made for some seriously dramatic photos. Here are some of our favorites!

This next shot is so funny. Tyler - please don't hate me for sharing this - but apparently there is a photo of this somewhere that was taken when these brothers were just little boys. It was Tylers brother Mikes idea to take this photo and Tyler, as you can see, was not so thrilled on the idea, but it did make for a great photo, and a great memory!

The dance was amazing, and even Alex and I took some time out of shooting to join in on the fun.

Hello friends and welcome to the first post on the blog.

I'm new to blogging so please be patient with me as I try to figure this thing out!

Alex and I have lots of work and exciting photos and stories we want to share with you. Mostly weddings, and an amazing road trip adventure from Montreal to Edmonton!

To start off, here is one of our favorite images together. We took this snapshot on the new Canon 5D MarkII while driving to Edmonton from Calgary. We wanted to try out the new camera, so we rented it from The Camera Store and completely fell in love with it...BLUE STEEL!
